Congratulations to all CAIS graduates receiving their awards today.

Three CAIS students received the award of Doctor of Philosophy: Dr Jessie Moritz, was awarded a doctoral degree for her thesis entitled, 'Slick Operators: Revising Rentier State Theory for the modern Arab Gulf States', and Dr Caroline Ladewig who completed work on, ‘Power, Epistemology and Pedagogy: Critical Thinking and Female Teacher Education in Oman’.

Dr Yahya Haider was awarded a doctoral degree in absentia for his research on 'The debates between Ash’arism and Mãturîdism in Ottoman religious scholarship'.

Four CAIS students graduated with a Master of Middle East and Central Asian Studies - Andrew Cox, Jane Geraghty, Ran Guo and Hayley Sweet.

Graduating with a Bachelor of Middle Eastern and Central Asian Studies were Monique Van Cauwenberghe and Matilda Smith.

Special congratulations go to Dr Huda Al-Tamimi who was presented with the VC's award for teaching excellence. Dr Al-Tamimi is pictured below with Dr Brendan Nelson, an Honorary Recipient and Guest Speaker at today's ceremony, and CAIS Director, Distinguished Professor Amin Saikal.
